LEAD INSTRUCTOR

Grade: IV Degree

I started training in Taekwon-Do with my husband David in 2006, after enrolling our 6 year old twins into a fantastic local club. I wanted them to gain some self defence skills for when they are older. At the time I had absolutely no understanding or expectations of what was ahead, I joined because it looked like great fun, great exercise, great discipline and we had great instructors. I was training twice a week but the more into my Taekwon-Do journey I travelled, the more I wanted to do. I attended several competitions as a coloured belt, again for fun, but it was adding so much value, content and depth to me as a martial arts practitioner.

After just over 4 years I graded for my 1st Degree Black Belt and since then have continued to grade, continued to compete and continued to learn and develop attending seminars with Masters and Grandmasters in the UK and abroad... that’s the great thing about Taekwon-Do, there is always so much to learn and do.

It was also fantastic to see our boys get their Black Belts and how this art has helped them not only physically but mentally. Able to take on challenges, aspire to do well, have focus and targets, be able to work under pressure, which i'm certain is going to help them in their adult years.

I am now a 4th Dan Black Belt and run Cambridge Taekwon-Do, we run several classes a week for kids from the age of 4 to adults of all ages and we also run after school sessions for a local primary and secondary school.

"We are incredibly proud of our club, the members, their attitudes and the high standards we deliver. Within our members we have some wonderful young people and adults that are going to become fantastic Black Belts, who we hope will go on to teach their own students in their own clubs. It is a long journey, requires a lot of determination, focus and patience but you have some amazing experiences along the way and make great friends"

Martial arts is such an important discipline within communities and we would like to see as many people, particularly families, participate in Taekwon-Do and other martial arts.
