T-UK British Championships

On Saturday 12th, a group of students, parents and black belts got up very early to set off for Stratford on Avon for the T-UK's 3rd British Championships. There were several first-time entrants among the group, who were very nervous when we met up for the start of the competition. The club was also very pleased to provide five qualified referees to support the event.

Competition kicked off at 10am sharp, following a speech from the President of T-UK, Mr John Archer VI. He congratulated Mr Ricky Dhillon on passing his IV Dan grading under ITF England President, Master Nardizzi VIII and also commended several young T-UK black belts who have achieved places on the ITF England squad and Team GB's Taekwon-Do squad.

Competition was busy and continued until around 6pm. Cambridge students performed well, demonstrating good conduct and etiquette alongside their techniques and competitive spirit. Several students achieved medals in their respective categories, but the club wants to commend the efforts of all. Competition is challenging to undertake and takes character. It also builds character however. The development of confidence and the ability to perform under pressure is an important part of our Taekwon-Do journey. Students should come away from competition with a sense of pride, no matter what the outcome.
